Psychosexual Therapy (PST)

What is Psychosexual Therapy?

Sexual problems can occur at anytime in a person’s life, whether they are in a relationship or otherwise. Sexual problems may be longstanding, or related to more recent events which have caused trauma, stress, confusion or unhappiness.

Some of the issues include:

Arousal disorders                                                                                                     Erectile dysfunction                                                                                              Loss of sexual desire                                                                                  Difficulties with orgasm                                                                              Premature or delayed ejaculation                                                                   General breakdown in a couple’s sexual relationship                                           Painful intercourse or where intercourse is not possible

In exploring why the problem arose in the first place, psychosexual therapy treats the causes as well as the symptoms. Where appropriate, I may recommend a specific treatment programme. Working within the context of the relationship, I aim to help the couple or individual understand what has happened and how to regain a fulfilling sexual relationship, as well as providing you with an informative sexual education.

Dispelling the myths

Often the public's misconceptions of sex therapy can be very different from what actually goes on in the room. At no time will you be examined physically or asked to remove your clothes, or perform a sexual act in my psychosexual therapy clinic. Any "homework" assigned to you, you carry out yourselves in the privacy of your own home. My sessions consists only of talking therapy.
